Mr. Choub Ratana, Director of the Department of Tourism Development Planning, held a technical meeting with Ms. Adjara DIOUF, Coordinator of the OIF for the Asia-Pacific region, and her team to discuss cooperation to promote sustainable tourism and the development of green destinations in Cambodia.
The meeting reviewed the preparation of the regional workshop on “Launching the Sustainable Tourism Development Project (Destination Eco-Talent)” of the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), which will be held from March 26 to 28, 2025 in Siem Reap, under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Thok Sokhom, Secretary of State and a high representative of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism.
With the launch of the above project, the OIF also supported sustainable tourism development to 6 partners, including the Ministry of Tourism, the School of Hotel and Tourism Paul Dubrol, Hotel School, Restaurant School, Cambodian Spoon Association, Siem Reap Women Entrepreneur Development Association, and the Royal University of Law and Economics.
While considering tourism development, it is worth noting that in 2024, Cambodia’s tourism sector received approximately 6.7 million international tourists, an increase of 22.9 percent compared to 2023.
